लिसन (Listen) is an ongoing project about the effects of accent neutralisation and language supremecy on our ability to percieve and be percieved. A satirical series that means to confuse rather than connect. The presence of the english language within Indian media aims to divide. It aims to remove audiences. This project specifically focuses on Indian media transliterating Hindi to english- words like awaaj, suno, pyaar don’t make sense unless the viewer is literate in both hindi and english. This limitation makes way for exclusion and superiority. ‘लिसन’ works backwards, it only presents you with english verbiage transliterated to hindi. It aims to reposition the audience.
